“I have been running a Dermatopathology laboratory for 18 years.  For the first ten years we had service contracts through the parent companies of the processors and stainers we had.  However, we were never totally satisfied, mainly because those companies often outsource technicians through other servicing companies, and you never get the same technician twice.  You never know their expertise level, nor do you know where their loyalty is; to you, to the servicing company, or to the parent company.

On one occasion, a rookie technician doing preventive maintenance on a processor, connected two hoses backwards, and couldn’t make it work.  He had to bring (one day later) another technician to help him sort out the problem.  Fortunately, no specimens were ruined, but they could have been.   After that experience we decided to call a different (smaller) company with hopes of getting more consistent service.  And for the last 8 years we have not been disappointed of Southeast Pathology Services.

Headed by Michael Dietrich, company owner, the technicians are not only a nice group of people, but are well versed in all brands and types of pathology equipment.  You get to know them, and they get to know you and your equipment.  If the problem cannot be solved in the lab, they take the equipment to their shop for an in-depth testing and repair (a loaner is always available on those occasions).   Lastly, their fees are more reasonable than those of the “brand name” companies.  Any laboratory director, manager, or supervisor wishing to improve their equipment service experience should give Southeast Pathology Services a call.”
