Instrument Description
The Leica CM 3050 S cryostat is particularly suited to working with delicate specimens, such as sectioning brain samples in neuroscience. The precise specimen orientation and the specimen feed system, via step motor, guarantees maximum quality in the thinnest sections.
The Leica CM 3050 S cryostat features electronic specimen feed (a more precise feed system than mechanical specimen feed) which gives the user a great advantage when absolute precision is a high priority. The unit also features motorized sectioning, encapsulated microtome power saving refrigeration system, programmable defrost cycles, twin-compressor cooling systems, a chamber temperature down to -40°C, specimen temperature down to -50°C, and a programmable reverse section counter. Section thickness can range from 0.5 to 300 microns, and maximum specimen sizeis 55 x 70 mm.
